Cutting back on oil or butter to make your favorite foods healthier could cause your dinner to burn or stick. But a certain kind of cookware lets you cook some dishes without any added fats.
There is some cookware designed to use a natural ingredient already in many foods so you can eat healthier. "We cook fried chicken, baked potato and a fried potato with no grease, oil, butter or lard," said Lynn Stogner, of Kitchen Craft International. The trick is stainless steel waterless cookware.Because white meat chicken with skin is more than 2/3rds water, Kitchen Craft claims a special "vapor seal" locks in all those natural vapors.
Since you are not supposed to put this waterless cookware above medium heat, the company claims the moisture won't evaporate too quickly and burn your food.Lynn Stogner of Kitchen Craft said one of the biggest benefits of waterless cooking is what stays in your food."That way you retain all your vitamins, all your nutrients, all your color," Stogner said.
Stogner said you are not supposed to even touch the lids until the desired cooking time is up. Otherwise, you'll release the vapor, which may slow down the cooking process. But adding waterless cookware to your kitchen collection with cost you. A basic set goes for nearly $1,700.Stainless steel has one big drawback, though.
